C-THRU Research Project

From 2020-2024 we were involved in a 3 year international research project, led by Professor Jon Cullen from the University of Cambridge. The project also involved University of Bath, University of Texas, Austin and University of California, Santa Barbara. The project took a multi-disciplinary approach to explore future interventions and innovation opportunities to minimise greenhouse gas emissions in the petrochemicals sector. We led a workstream focused on developing a network model of the petrochemicals industry globally which highlighted links between plants based on production chains, geography and ownership. This helped inform the wider project to understand how different decarbonisation approaches were needed in different locations.
